In the Retail Sector water may not be the single highest operational cost to your business, but without effective monitoring and management, water consumption can be very excessive and cost many thousands of pounds per year.

An SMS data logger was installed by Demeter Limited in the first instance to provide accurate data on current water use. As can be seen from the graph, water use never fell below 0.5m³ per hour¹. A survey inspection was then carried out which identified the points of excessive water use. Rectification works were carried out and the impact confirmed via the data logging information. The graphs below show the consumption profiles before and after the rectification works and show a sustainable 11m³ per day reduction in water use, equivalent to £7,000 per annum.
